Vacation on a Budget: How to Find Affordable Luxury Tours

Far too many people think that taking a vacation with luxury tours has to require a millionaire’s spending level. While that may have been true at one point, the law of large numbers has reduced the costs of these kinds of trips considerably. In fact, the average person or family can often find great deals on a wide variety of trips. Surprisingly enough, it isn’t even that hard to do in most cases.

The major tricks of finding luxurious tours for reasonable prices are actually fairly simple, when you think about them. While you might not be able to do everything that some people brag about, you most likely won’t miss anything by taking your trip at a slightly different time or through using a service.

Use a Travel Agent

Believe it or not, travel agents still exist. And since most people don’t use them anymore, they are often able to find great deals that they will happily pass along for a small fee. While this may seem like an old fashioned thing to do, it’s okay to play it old school from time to time. This is even better if you’re a little strapped for time and could use someone else doing the leg work.

Shop Deal Websites a Few Weeks Before the Trip

The optimal time to price your trip is typically three weeks to two months before your trip. As openings pop up unpredictably due to people’s changing schedules, you can often slide into a great deal that someone else has had to abandon. Since deal websites tend to buy large numbers of seats, rooms and tickets, they will often extend you the same great price or even a better one on some occasions. Just don’t start too early or right before the trip, and you might find something great.

Trim Your Costs Other Places

Sometimes a great deal can be had by forgoing extras that you might not use anyway. For example, if you’re going to be staying for a day’s layover, you might forgo a rental car or hotel room. While this might sound inconvenient, some of the best vacation memories are made of getting creative on the fly.

Plan for Retail Pricing

If all else fails, you can always plan to pay the full “retail” price for your trip. A funny thing tends to happen when you plan to do things no matter what. Often, great deals and awesome opportunities present themselves when you basically commit yourself to doing what you want to do no matter what.

There are tons of ways to find a great deal. Some are traditional to the point of sounding stodgy, and some are extremely modern. In any case, you’ve got tons of ways and no excuse not to look.
